CPISC LogoThe Canadian Printing Industry Sector Council will be administering a subsidy for new employees in the industry.

For the first time, Canadian printing industry employers will be able to access wage subsidy funds under a new Career Focus program, a $651,000 government-funded program, which is slated to last for three years.

CPISC states it has enough funding to 13 employees (between the ages of 15 and 30), who can receive a maximum of $12,750. According to CPISC, the program will provide companies with the opportunity to support the skills development of newcomers to the industry.

Applications will be considered by CPISC on a first come, first served basis. Employers will have to guarantee a minimum of 4 months of continuous employment with at least 30 hours a week as well as make sure employees develop skills outlined in CPISC's national skill standards.
