The Canadian Printing Industries Association (CPIA) has added four new officers to its Board of Directors, following a unanimous vote at its recent General Meeting at the beginning of December. The appointments represent a new approach for the association in efforts to revitalize a national voice for Canada’s printing industry.
Richard Kouwenhoven, President and COO of Hemlock Printers, was elected to the position of Chair of the CPIA. Mike McInnes, Senior Vice President, Ontario, Transcontinental Inc., was elected to the position of Secretary/Treasurer.
Loris Pavan, Regional Director Business Development & Strategic Solutions at RR Donnelley (British Columbia), and Dave Potje, Vice President at Twin City Dwyer Printing, were elected as officers to the CPIA board.
Kouwenhoven and Pavan are representatives of the PrintForward Printing and Imaging Association, which was formerly the British Columbia Printing Industries Association (BCPIA). McInnes and Potje are representatives of the Ontario Printing and Imaging Association (OPIA).
The CPIA explains PrintForward and the OPIA will form new board leadership, manage the administrative functions of the CPIA, and lead the direction of a national voice for the printing industry.
“We view this as an opportunity to build on the CPIA’s legacy as an organization that represents the interests of industry stakeholders across the country,” said Richard Kouwenhoven. “The need for a national voice for our industry is as important as ever, and fostering collaboration among members is equally important to help them find success within an industry where change is a constant. We are looking forward to undertaking this important work with our industry peers in the months ahead.”
The CPIA plans to canvass industry input from across the country in the coming months, with the goal of creating an operating model that unifies and supports regional industry associations.
Established in 1939, the CPIA is designed to support the interests of all members in the prepress, press, bindery and allied industries across Canada. It provides national government representation, advocacy and networking opportunities for members.
