Schawk Celebrates 60 Years

June 11, 2013  By

Chicago-based Schawk celebrated its 60th anniversary by ringing the opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange last week.

Schawk Founder and Chairman Clarance W. Schawk, along with the company’s executive team, rang the opening bell this past Friday. The company has been traded on that exchange since 1995.

“Schawk has evolved from black and white to color, from analog to digital, from packaging to cross-media and from premedia to brand development and brand deployment,” said Clarance Schawk. “Standing still is not an option. We’re always evolving.”

The company began as a one-person platemaking shop in Chicago and today the company has over 3,600 employees, including operations in Canada, U.S. and 24 other countries around the world. The company provides premedia for many of the world’s leading consumer brands, including more than 25 Fortune 100 companies.

“Looking back, it’s not just the growth of the business that has been gratifying, but also what that growth has allowed us to do. It has enabled us to strengthen our relationships with employees and with non-profit groups in the local community,” continued Schawk. “We value the relationships we have with our remarkably talented employees and our local community leaders and seek to continue to enrich their experience with us.”
