CPISC Releases Colour Specialist Profile

November 23, 2009
By

The Canadian Printing Industries Sector Council (CPISC) has released what it refers to as “skill standards” for “output and colour specialists.” According to CPISC, its documentation defines "what an employee should know and be able to do on the job."

“We are proud to have completed the skill standards for our industry’s key process areas of prepress, press, finishing, and bindery,” stated CPISC co-chair Jeff Ekstein, in a press release. “The standards will help in creating a better trained, more adaptable workforce that is urgently needed at this time.”

According to CPISC, the occupational profiles accompanying what it claims as “skill standards” can be used for recruitment and training purposes. The end goal of this documentation is for CPISC to develop a national recognition/certification program for various HR segments of the industry. CPISC is a not-for-profit organization funded by million-dollar-plus government grants.
