Somerset Reports Success with Benford UV

Somerset Graphics of Mississauga reports it is receiving positive response in the marketplace following the installation of a Komori LSX 629, largely because of the press’ low-energy UV capabilities to work with uncoated stock.

“We're listening to our clients and creators within the design community and the message is loud and clear: They want more out of uncoated stocks, but are unwilling to sacrifice colour fidelity,” said Jack Youngberg of Somerset in relation to deploying its new low-energy curing technology produced by Benford UV of the United Kingdom. “This investment solidifies our commitment to offering the best and most environmentally responsible printing process for our clients.”

Somerset Graphics installed its new 6-colour, 29-inch Komori LSX 629 press into its facility back in June 2013. The press, sold through K-North, can do both inline UV printing and conventional printing with water-based coatings.

“We have been building a reputation for super reliability, great flexibility of inks to use and super low power consumption with our systems,” said Bedford’s Marc Boden, who oversaw the UV integration onto Somerset’s Komori machine. “This press has our Dual UV system which allows them to run conventional UV and ECO UV, which cures low energy UV inks.”

Founded 33 years ago, Somerset Graphics is a privately owned commercial printing operation and well known in the Greater Toronto Area for its focus on high-quality production. The company has previously worked with inter-deck press systems.
