Cerm becomes independent from Heidelberg

August 6, 2020  By PrintAction Staff

The current management of Cerm, a global provider of MIS software for the printing industry, has acquired its full independence through a management buyout from Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG.

With its autonomy, the company hopes to boost the worldwide expansion of its automation technologies for labels and packaging printers.

“Our software has proven expertise in increasing the service, quality and efficiency levels of label and packaging printers globally,” said Geert Van Damme, CEO of Cerm. “We are constantly focusing on existing and new customer needs and technological evolution. To explore our full potential and fuel that growth, we needed to regain independence, and welcome additional distribution and support channels.”

The growing trend to digital label printing is challenging the optimization focus in the label and packaging segment with a growing variety of products, small order quantities and short lead times.

“We highly value the cooperation throughout the years and will continue to collaborate with Heidelberg sales and service units,” added Van Damme. “We are also looking forward to expanding our deep industry expertise, offering in the label and packaging market as an independent, innovative, and an agile niche player through additional sales and service channels.”

Heidelberg and Cerm will continue to develop and distribute the company’s software as Prinect Business Manager for commercial printers. All existing Heidelberg customer contracts and support channels will remain in place.

Cerm’s technology is seen as a powerful ecosystem for any printer, regardless of size or application focus. The company serves over 400 customers worldwide and partners up with a number of market representatives.
