Gravure Choquet added a fifth Kluge EHD system for foil stamping, embossing and die-cutting into its Montreal production facility. Founded in 1973, Gravure Choquet is a trade finisher running 24 systems capable of handling a range of sheet sizes.
Among Choquet’s five Kluge EHDs, the new system – with a 14 x 22-inch format – includes an optional pre-load magazine allowing operators to load sheets without stopping the press, which manufacturer Brandtjen & Kluge describes as being very useful when feeding thicker stocks and book covers.
“We keep at least three of our Kluges busy every day, sometimes all five. The 14 x 22 EHD is ideal for feeding and foil stamping pre-diecut folding cartons,” said Patrick Choquet, Owner of Gravure Choquet. “It also allows us to die-cut jobs without nicking so nothing has to be sanded, the product goes direct into the box.”
The Kluge EHD features speeds of up to 3,300 impressions per hour. A new delayed delivery on the system can accommodate sheets of up to 17 x 24.75 inches (431 x 628 mm), with up to 40 square inches of die area.
Choquet was recently recognized by Brandtjen & Kluge within its 2013 Gold Leaf Awards program, receiving the Best of Show Award for a piece entitled Kurz Christmas Cards. In total, Choquet received five Gold Leaf Awards for foil stamping, embossing and specialty effects on a product. “It takes skill and care to do this and a very good and talented press operator,” commented Patrick Choquet.
