City Press Installs Kodak NexPress SX2700

June 5, 2012  By

Winnipeg’s City Press Ltd. becomes the first commercial printer in Manitoba to install Kodak’s NexPress SX2700 toner press. Founded in 1932, City Press has remained a family run company for the past eight decades and is now led by Ken Giesbrecht, President and owner.

City Press purchased the Kodak press from Spicers in Canada. The NexPress SX2700 works with a maximum sheet size of 14 inches by 26 inches, while reaching a maximum print speed of 83 A4-size pages per minutes, simplex. City Press also added Kodak’s Intelligent Color option on the press, which reproduces up to 86 percent of Pantone colours.

City Press also included Kodak’s fifth imaging unit to produce light black and apply clear ink, as well as in-line dimensional printing. Kodak recently introduced the ability to print gold, pearlescent and neon-pink printing effects with its fifth imaging unit, which can also apply watermarking, protection coating, MICR printing, and red fluorescing ink for security applications.
