Baldwin presents colour technology at upcoming show

At Packaging Innovations 2018, Baldwin Vision Systems plans to feature its latest solutions for automated production processes as well as colour management and defect detection technology.

ColorTrack is a colour management software for flexo and gravure packaging applications, and is described as a “highly adaptive” solution for packaging printers. With a range of options for handheld and inline spectral measurement configurations, the software facilitates press-side correction of ink formulations. Without any hardware modifications to the press, ColorTrack is designed to deliver “absolute consistency” from press-to-press, shift-to-shift and plant-to-plant. The software, Baldwin says, can also enable press operators to make colour corrections without ink reformulation, by suggesting process adjustments such as ink strength or anilox changes.

Meanwhile, Color Measurement with DeltaCam uses inline spectral measurement to achieve colour consistency, the company explains. Baldwin says the solution enables packaging printers to utilize 31-channel spectral measurement on film, paper or board. The ISO-compliant technology, supporting M0 and M1 measurement conditions, aims to help printers reduce time and waste, while maintaining colour throughout the roll, without the need to wait for a roll change to measure with a handheld device, it says.
