Eclipse Imaging Adds Heidelberg VLF

June 17, 2013  By

Burlington, Ontario-based Eclipse Imaging has purchased and is in the process of installing a Heidelberg Speedmaster XL 162 VLF press. The 64-inch, 5-colour plus coater press is expected to be operational by August.
The press will take over most of the production work from the company’s other large format presses. According to Ralph Misale, Co-Owner and Chief Operating Officer, the Heidelberg VLF was chosen because the company felt it was well suited for the retail, packaging and display markets due to its ability to produce consistent results at any run length.
Founded in 1954 in Hamilton Ontario as a screen printing operation, Eclipse has since grown to be a major provider of signage, POP and other display printing for North America. In 2010, Grant Malcolm and Ralph Misale bought the company from Georgia-based Adams Outdoor Advertising, which owned Eclipse for roughly 10 years.
In its 77,000-square-foot facility, the company operates multiple litho machines, including three 77-inch Harris presses. Eclipse also operates several HP Scitex large format printers.
