The PrintAction Education Series begins with an event focusing on colour management, which continues to be one of the printing industry’s most challenging arenas. It also holds some of the greatest potential for costing savings and operational productivity. This event includes sessions for technicians in the morning and afternoon sessions designed for both technicians and managers.

Implementing G7 Certification, Pitfalls and Investment
After recently overseeing the implementation of G7 Certification at a printing facility, Peter Hedgecock presents the challenges that arise when investing in what has become a common industry colour management approach. Leveraging his experience in continuous improvement and the SWOP working group, Hedgecock will focus on why achieving grey balance is far from a proper definition of quality printing in offset printing, primarily relating to the adjustment of CTP curves.

It will also provide business insight by showing what we typically see at print manufacturing facilities today and in the past?

William Li, Technology Manager, Eastman Kodak

William is currently Color Technology Manager with Eastman Kodak.  Kodak is transforming into a B2B company focused on its Commercial Imaging business. Kodak will be centered on commercial, packaging and functional printing solutions and enterprise services, markets in which it offers customers advanced technologies that give them a competitive edge.  William leads the team responsible for developing core color technology in such products as Prinergy, Kodak ColorFlow Software, Kodak Spotless Software, Prosper, and Matchprint Virtual.

William began his career in the graphic arts industry in 1997, joining the award-winning Prinergy PDF workflow team developing screening and calibration software at Creo, and has led the color technology group since the 2004 acquisition of Creo by Kodak.

He brings a diverse background in engineering, physics, and systems design to the graphic arts as part of the Corporate Engineering Division. William is active in international standards work, serving as ICC chair since 2006, and convener of ISO/TC 130 JWG7 on color.  William is also active with the TAGA advisory board, US CGATS, IDEAlliance PPC, the Fogra digital print working group, CIP4, and Ghent Workgroup.
