Ellis Installs 8-colour, 40-inch Komori

May 24, 2013  By

The Ellis Group, one of Canada’s largest independent packaging operations, has installed a new 40-inch, 8-colour Komori LS with UV drying into its Ellis Paper Box location in Mississauga.

The Ellis Paper Box facility specializes in high-end packaging for the pharmaceutical industry across North America. This Mississauga plant’s in-house capabilities also include structural design, digital art, proof reading, CTP imaging and die-making, among a range of production and finishing services.

The facility’s new 40-inch, 8-colour Komori LS press was sold and installed by K-North inc., a dealer of Komori presses in Ontario and Western Canada. The LS press is integrated with many of Komori’s newest automation systems, including PDC-SII, fully automatic plate changers, wash-up for all systems on the press, and the AMR (Automatic Make-Ready) system.

The Ellis Group has historically based its pressroom around Komori sheetfed presses. In addition to the Paper Box location in Mississauga, the company’s primary packaging plant in Pickering, Ontario, measures 85,000 square feet, while a third facility, called Ellis Packaging West, resides in Guelph and focuses on folding-carton production. The company traces its roots back to 1946, with Ellis Packaging being incorporated in 1983.
