R.E. Gilmore Corporation has become the first printer in Canada to purchase a Xerox CiPress 500 Production Inkjet System. The device will be installed at its Gilmore Doculink location in Ottawa.
“We constantly look to Xerox to help us push the envelope, keep us competitive and improve the value we bring to our customers,” said Brian Wright, Vice President of Operations, Gilmore. “The CiPress 500 meets all of these expectations.”
Wright goes on to say that he expects to shift transpromo work from other print platforms to the CiPress 500. “The test phase reinforced that we made the right decision – we are using less ink but printing at higher volumes, all while improving our environmental footprint,” said Wright.
The CiPress 500 can print at 500 feet (9.5-inch web), or 2,180 full-colour pages per minute at 600×400 dpi. The machine is designed to print on plain, uncoated stock, including offset, recycled, newsprint, or calendared paper. The device uses a waterless ink system that does not require high energy dryer systems or other bonding agents to set.
The Xerox CiPress 500 and 325 Production Inkjet Systems made their debut at Graph Expo in the fall of 2011. The company launched the Single Engine Duplex version in February of this year.
