Ferrostaal Starts North American Operations

Essen, Germany-based Ferrostaal, vendor of integrated printing systems, has started a North American operation based in Houston. The company has appointed former xpedx exec John Torrey as President of the new Texas-based operation.

“Printers of all sizes must have trusted, globally experienced partners to help them succeed in today’s fast-evolving communications environments,” said Bernd Ahlmann, Senior VP of Equipment Solutions for Ferrostaal AG. “The appointment of John and Lionel as our top operating executives in the U.S. and Canada demonstrates our commitment to bring strong service and support to commercial printers in the world’s top print markets.”

John Torrey has 29 years of experience to the printing industry and last served as the VP and GM responsible for capital equipment at xpedx in the U.S. Lionel Byron, who will be Ferrostaal Inc.’s CFO, is a 16-year Ferrostaal executive and last held the post of CFO of Ferrostaal Equipment Solutions in South Africa.

Ferrostaal Inc. is also the new master distributor of Ryobi presses in U.S. and Canada.

Ferrostaal is a 1.6-billion Euro company serving many industries such as petrochemicals, industrial plants, solar energy and power. Its printing business is positioned under the Equipment projects division. The company was, until 2009, part of the MAN Group in Germany before having the majority of its shares acquired by Abu Dhabi-based International Petroleum Investment Company (IPIC).
