Heidelberg to Distribute Fujifilm Plates in Canada

May 2, 2013  By

Fujifilm Canada Inc. has reached a thermal plate distribution agreement with Heidelberg Canada Graphic Equipment Limited, which is now in effect.

The new agreement between the two companies comes into effect just as Kodak’s previous distribution relationship with Heidelberg Canada officially ends, as reported by PrintAction in February. Less than three months ago, Kodak announced it decided to partner with Spicers Canada as its national distributor in the country, beginning in May.

Fujifilm Canada will continue to use its direct sales channel to provide customers with its full portfolio of graphic arts solutions for printing clients, including all thermal and photopolymer plate products, wide format technologies and pressroom solutions. Heidelberg Canada, therefore, becomes an additional distribution channel for Fujifilm in Canada.

Heidelberg, specifically, will distribute Fujifilm’s LH-PJ, LH-PL, LH-NN2, as well as the process-less Ecomaxx-T line of thermal plate products. Heidelberg will be responsible for its own direct customer field support through its national technical services team.

“Fujifilm plates and Heidelberg presses have delivered exceptional and profitable performance for printers across Canada. We recognized the common strategic relationship between our two companies,” stated Stefan Biasi, Vice-President of Graphics Systems Division at Fujifilm Canada. “Given the market situation in Canada we saw an opportunity to evolve another level of relationship with Canada’s leading press manufacturer creating a powerful alliance to maintain and grow Fujifilm’s number-one market share position in plates.”

Historically, Heidelberg Canada has held the largest client base and network in the country, for at least the past three decades, with its technologies found in the pressrooms of thousands of Canadian printing companies.

“Strong trust relationships are a key to success for printers in Canada,” stated Richard Armstrong, President of Heidelberg Canada. “We pride ourselves on having built long term relationships around not only our market leading sheetfed offset press solutions, but with our complete line-up of equipment, services and consumables products.”
