May 5, 2018  By PrintAction Staff

On April 25 at approximately 10 pm, the head Vancouver office and pressroom of Metropolitan Fine Printers was destroyed by a fire, according to a statement from the British Columbia-based company.

MET says it is currently working with the Vancouver Fire & Rescue authorities to determine the cause of the fire. No employees have been reported as hurt or injured.

“We are very thankful that all of our employees are safe, and that no-one was hurt during this fire,” said MET President Nikos Kallas. “We appreciate the support we are receiving from our industry colleagues, and are exploring all options to ensure that we can continue to serve our valuable clients.”

Contingency plans have been initiated, and MET anticipates there will be minimal disruption to business, noting that “all of [its] backup servers are intact and all data is safe and undamaged.”

MET says its Calgary and other Vancouver locations are functioning as normal, and that it is working closely with its suppliers, vendors and clients to ensure business continuity. The firm is temporarily operating around the corner at 1489 Frances Street.
