On April 6, 2018, the Humboldt Broncos junior hockey team was involved in a fatal bus crash in Saskatchewan. Through this tragedy, Canadians across the country came together to help those families who were forever changed. Carmen and Erick Hofer, owners of the Minuteman Press design, marketing, and printing franchise in Edmonton, Alta., wanted to help contribute to the efforts.

“We went down to the local university and had t-shirts, pins, ribbons and car decals that we created to help the affected families. To be able to do our small part to help them meant a lot to us,” Carmen says.

The Hofers say they raised over $4,000, with entire proceeds going to the families of the bus crash victims.

This year marks the one-year anniversary of the Hofers’ ownership of the Minuteman Press franchise. Located in Ellerslie, a neighbourhood in Edmonton, the print shop offers a range of print solutions, including business cards, brochures, banners, promotional products and custom branded apparel, and has recently produced specialty jobs such as food truck wraps, CD covers, and a custom design for a pool table.

Started in 1973 by Roy Titus and his son Bob, Minuteman Press began franchising in 1975 and has grown to nearly 1,000 business service franchise locations worldwide including Canada, the U.S., Australia, South Africa, and the United Kingdom.
