The Canadian Printing Awards program, entering its 9th year, is now open for submissions across 33 categories, including three completely new printing categories: Special Project, Special Effects and Cross Media Project.
The new Specialty Project category is designed to reflect the growing use of marketing campaigns that are comprised of at least two distinct printing components, in addition to supporting materials, containers or unique pieces. As its name suggests, the Cross Media Project category reflects any campaign tying together print and digital communications, such as Augmented Reality, Email, Near Field Communications, QR Codes or other online/digital applications. Finally, the new Special Effects category relates to a printing project leveraging the extraordinary use of inks or coatings beyond four process colours.
In addition to these new categories, PrintAction has also expanded some of the most popular Canadian Printing Awards categories, including Brochures & Booklets, Books, Labels and Packaging to account for production by different printing processes. The program’s entry deadline is set for September 18, 2014.
Tracing back to its roots, the 2014 Canadian Printing Awards continue to highlight environmentally progressive printers and suppliers. PrintAction magazine will also name its 2014 Industry Achievement winners in the Printing Leader of the Year, Emerging Leader of the Year (Under 35), Lifetime Achievement Award and Community Leader of the Year.
The awards gala is to take place on November 6, 2014, at the Toscana Conference Centre of the Hilton Garden Inn in Vaughan, Ontario. CBC News network personality Heather Hiscox returns as the gala’s host. She is a three-time Gemini nominee as Best Host and Best News Anchor.
