As COVID-19 continues to impact the world, digital and local events have taken over the live events of years past. Because of this, Heidelberg has announced that it is cancelling its participation in all international trade fairs next year, including drupa 2021.

“In 2021, drupa will be a very different event – global travel restrictions and hygiene regulations mean significantly fewer visitors and constraints on communication,” said Heidelberg in a statement. “Traditional international trade fairs with busy booths and halls will very probably be difficult to implement and will likely lose their status as global meet-up events for customers and manufacturers. As a long-time partner to drupa, Heidelberg will be happy to continue to offer its experience when it comes to bringing future trade fair concepts into line with new digital possibilities and customer requirements.”

In addition, Heidelberg is launching its own Innovation Week, to be held from October 19 to 23, 2020. The Innovation Week will see the company present a number of product innovations that focus on packaging and commercial, including autonomous printing, end-to-end solutions, Smart Print Shop and Push-to-Stop. Heidelberg’s Innovation Week will be live-streamed, as well as face-to-face at the company’s Wiesloch/Walldorf location.
