Imprimerie FL Web commits $11M in Goss equipment

June 15, 2018  By PrintAction Staff

Imprimerie FL Web President François Chicoine has announced the acquisition of a Goss Sunday 3000 48-page rotary press. The $11-million investment will create 40 jobs, a figure that could triple, the company says.

Established in 1986, Imprimerie F.L. Chicoine provides offset printing services. Since 2010, its Imprimerie FL Web division has offered rotary printing. The firm employs more then 60 people and serves Quebec, the Maritime provinces and the Ontario/U.S. border areas.

With the firm’s new high-speed press, Imprimerie FL Web says it will become the first and only Canadian printhouse that can simultaneously produce 48 perfect-bound (magazine style) pages, explaining the purchase has allowed it to triple production to over 4.3 million pages/hour — the family firm boasts an operating speed of 3,000 feet/min.) and a press width of 114 inches. At full capacity, the press can print 10 truckloads of paper per day. The printhouse says it doubled its building space — from 40,000 to 80,000 square feet — to house the two-storey high, 185-foot press.

“Such growth is consistent with our personalized approach and family business values, focused on client service,” said Chicoine, whose wife and five children work for the firm. He say he intends to double company turnover within two years.
