Middleton Group adds two Onset presses

June 3, 2018  By PrintAction Staff

Middleton Group has increased its production capacity with two Onset presses at its Markham, Ont., facility. The most recent addition to its line-up is the Onset X3 wide format UV flatbed inkjet printer, equipped with three-quarter automation that includes a feed table and robotic arm take-off. Middleton Group also upgraded its existing Onset LT to a full-build Onset with White, allowing for 50 percent increased output, it says.

“We create a great amount of point of purchase displays for our clients, including food and beverage and toy companies in Canada,” said Craig Riethmacher, Chief Operating Officer, Middleton Group Inc. “The speed and quality on the Onset X3 are amazing.”

With a maximum throughput of nearly 10,000 square feet per hour, the Onset X3 is designed for companies that produce fast-turnaround retail POP graphics. A choice of unidirectional, bi-directional, high speed and super high-quality print modes can be selected depending on the specific job requirements.

“A lot of four by eight boards and a tremendous amount of corrugated jobs go to the Onset X3,” said Riethmacher. “The most remarkable aspect is the speed. We are producing upwards of 200 boards an hour, and able to turn jobs very quickly. We can sell larger runs to our clients for a reasonable price that are comparable to screen printing or offset.”

Riethmacher said he looked at other wide format inkjet presses and that his success with the original Onset LT was “a strong selling point.”

“The three-quarter automation with the Onset X3 is amazing, and allows us to utilize the full capabilities of the press. We are running two shifts, seven days a week, on both of the Onset presses,” Riethmacher said.

The Inca Onset series of high productivity wide format inkjet presses are distributed exclusively in North America by Fujifilm North America Corporation, Graphic Systems Division.
