Axel Kaufmann is to become the Chief Financial Officer of Koenig & Bauer AG effective October 1, 2010. At age 40 today, he previously served with Helsinki- and Munich-based Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN), which was formed out a June 2006 merger. This created one of the world’s largest telecommunications equipment suppliers, with Nokia Siemens Networks operating in approximately 200 countries worldwide, employing some 60,000 people.
In his most recent roll with NSN, Kaufmann was head of finance and control for almost three years with responsibility over several global NSN business units. Prior to the merger, he worked with Siemens operations in Germany and abroad for more than 10 years. This included positions as head of finance at a software business unit of Mobile Networks, head of business administration at the supply chain division for Siemens’ European plants, CFO at a shared services unit in the United States, and director of business development at Procurement and Logistics Services in Munich.
Kaufmann began his career as a trainee at Deutsche Bank, with secondments to New York and Toronto. This was followed by a BA in business administration at Würzburg University and a masters degree in international business at Paderborn University, where he also gained a PhD in banking and finance.
