Manroland Web Becomes Reseller of Kodak Prosper

April 21, 2014  By PrintAction Staff

manroland Web Systems of Augsburg, Germany, signed a deal to become a worldwide reseller of Kodak’s Prosper inkjet heads, which is predominantly aimed at the newspaper sector.

The agreement focuses on integrating Kodak’s Prosper S20 and S30 imprinting systems into manroland’s web press lines, enabling variable-data production for newspaper publishers.

“We appreciate the technology and engineering experience that manroland web systems brings to this partnership,” stated Eric Owen, VP of WW Sales & Business Development for Kodak’s Digital Printing & Enterprise Business. “They understand how to mount print heads, control speed and micro-movements and make appropriate adjustments, resulting in a head that is positioned at the right location for printing.”

manroland, established more than 170 years ago, remains as one of the leading press suppliers to the newspaper and publishing industries on a global basis. In fact, the integration of manroland web presses and Kodak Prosper S-series is already underway with a couple of printers in the market, including Germany’s Axel Springer running Prosper S30 heads at multiple print sites.

“Personalized advertising, micro-zoning, logistics, codes and gaming customization are just a few applications which are enabled through the use of variable print,” stated Dieter Betzmeier, Executive VP, Technology & Project Execution, manroland web systems. “Our engineering expertise has allowed us to offer sophisticated integration kits to our web press customers.”
