On the first day of 2011, Nikos Kallas is to become President of Vancouver-based Metropolitan Fine Printers, one of the world’s most-visible commercial printing companies based on years of award-winning production.
Earlier this year, Met Printers received its 29th Benny Award in the annual Premier Print Awards program, recognized as one of the leading printing-quality competitions in the world. This award extended Met Printer’s position as the most-successful Canadian company in the program’s history.
Kallas, who graduated from The University of Western with a Bachelor degree in Economics, has served as the company’s Business Development Manager since 2006. He also sits on the boards of BCIT’s Graphic Communications Technology program and CANstruction Vancouver, which is a food-drive initiative started by his family. (Since 2003, CANstruction has collected 956,505 cans of food for the Greater Vancouver Foodbank.)
Met Printers was founded in 1977 by Nikos’ father, George Kallas, who will assume the role of Chairman on January 1, 2011. Met’s management board will also include Paul Riches, General Manager; Vice President of Manufacturing, Mike Winteringham; Vice President of Sales & Marketing, Bob Faulkner; and Senior Account Representative Scott Gray, who takes on a new position as Director of Brand.
“It is a great pleasure to turn over the daily reins of the company to such a talented group,” said George Kallas. “This new injection of energy and expertise will serve us well as we take Met in new and expanded directions.“
