Onyx Graphics has announced the global availability of Onyx 18.5 software, the latest version release of the company’s wide- and grand-format RIP software. Onyx 18.5 software builds upon the Onyx 18 version, as the first wide-format RIP solution with Adobe PDF Print Engine 5.1 (APPE 5.1), the company explains.
Onyx says with APPE 5.1, users can expect complete design-to-print workflows including high impact colour rendering, smoother edges for graphics, enhanced Unicode support, plus support for PDF 2.0 features such as black-point compensation, half-tone origin, special data for spot colours, and page-level output intent. The new software version also introduces new Quick Set application library management boasting improved automation, enhanced iccMAX compatibility with support for third-party files and new spot colour tools for colour accuracy and vibrancy. Other highlights of Onyx 18.5 include PDF 2.0 features including black-point compensation and added spot colour vibrancy with Relative Gamut Mapping chroma preservation.
