PE Plus Imaging of Toronto becomes the first company in North America to acquire the new 1,000-dpi Durst Rho P10 Series printer, introduced last month at the ISA Sign Expo in Orlando.
Founded in 1980, PE Plus Imaging provides services like Lambda photo printing, digital die cutting, mounting and laminating, fulfillment and design, as well as flatbed UV printing. The company actually got its start with a Durst Lambda laser photo printer, ultimately running numerous Durst enlargers and then the vendor’s Lambda 130 and Rho 160 systems.
“Over the years, we’ve developed a broad range of expertise – from design to production to installation – and we work closely with each customer to consistently produce work of the highest caliber and deliver it on time,” said Debbie Jaue, who co-owns PE Imaging with Bob Clark. “We wanted a printer that not only could keep up with new customer requirements, but also would allow us to propose and produce options that the customer hadn’t thought of before, that would impress them. The ability to do that sets you apart from the competition and makes you very valuable.”
The Durst Rho P10 250 installed by PE Plus is a 2.5-metre-wide flatbed inkjet system featuring 10-picoliter Quadro Array print heads – manufactured by silicon-based MEMS technology – that produce a resolution up to 1,000-dpi. The system, printing at speeds of up to 2,100 f2/hour, is designed for what Durst refers to as hand-held and eye-level materials, such as backlit signage, POP and commercial displays, and small packages.
A model within Durst’s new Rho P10 Series of printers, the Rho P10 250 includes light cyan and light magenta, while having the ability to print simultaneously on two parallel panels or rolls.
“PE Plus Imaging was an innovator more than three decades ago when it acquired a Durst Lambda, and they’re an innovator today with the 10-picoliter Rho P10 250,” said Christopher Howard, Senior VP of Sales and Marketing for Durst U.S.
