PrintReleaf works to grow reforestation rates
July 17, 2018 By PrintAction Staff
PrintReleaf – a print industry sustainability and reforestation standard – seeks to offer brands, graphic designers and printers an alternative to chain-of-custody standards currently available.
First introduced at PRINT 17 in Chicago, PrintReleaf is described as the only technology platform that measures customers’ paper usage and certifiably reforests that usage on an equivalent basis.
The program automatically plants trees equivalent to the paper used by printers and converters, with plantings certified by an independent agency. Several global reforestation sites are available. The PrintReleaf technology, it explains, not only tracks paper consumption, but also monitors PrintReleaf reforestation partners in an effort to ensure fulfillment.
“PrintReleaf eliminates the complex record-keeping and inventory management issues familiar to printers using chain-of-custody standards. The simple PrintReleaf interface provides printers and their customers with an easy-to-read accounting of their positive effect on the environment,” says PrintReleaf Founder and CEO Jordan Darragh.
