Ken Hildebrand, Des Morris, Anthony Longo and Bob Hoxie teamed up to win the 14th annual Mackenzie Printery Museum Golf Tournament, organized each year to raise funds for the Niagara-based organization.
Described as “the best hands-on museum in Upper Canada,” the Mackenzie Printery & Newspaper Museum was established in 1990 as a joint venture between the Niagara Parks Commission and a volunteer Printery Committee concerned with the preservation of printing equipment.
The Mackenzie Printery is located in the restored home of rebel publisher William Lyon Mackenzie. It is home to the Louis Roy Press, described as the oldest in Canada and one of the few original wooden presses remaining in the world. The museum holds eight operating heritage presses in total, as well as a working linotype.
The winning foursome of the best-ball tournament shot 12 under par (60) at the Whirlpool Golf Course in Niagara Falls.
