True Colours Graphic Installs Kongsberg Cutter

May 21, 2013  By

True Colour Graphic Reproduction of North Vancouver, has recently installed a new Kongsberg i-XN24 Digital Finishing system, purchased from Fujifilm. The new installation came at the heels of the company moving to a new 5,200 square foot facility.
“The new space allowed us to construct a custom tailored room for the cutter,” said company President Carl May. “The 5′ x 10′ table saves us a tremendous amount of time in print finishing as well as reducing much of our outsourcing of 3D lettering, plexi milling and speciality cutting. It’s an incredibly powerful and versatile piece of machinery that will let us turn around work faster, more accurately and in greater volumes for our wide range of clients. It also enabled us to diversify into short run carton packaging work as well as large and small prototype packaging.”
True Colour Graphic Reproduction was founded in 1991 and today operates as a signage and graphics shop for the Greater Vancouver community. The family-run operation includes May’s daughter Lorna, who operates the cutter:
“I love this cutter. It will cut perfect shapes out of materials up to one inch thick. Acrylic, Sintra, MDF, plywood, and alupanel are a few examples of the type of materials we can now cut, as well as flexible or roll fed material. Not only does the machine speed up production, it does a perfect job every time and, for the most part, eliminates human error.” She adds: “Now that I’ve experienced this amazing technology firsthand, it would be very difficult to go back to manual finishing!”
