Wide Format Investment by Signage Source

March 6, 2012  By

Signage Source of Pickering, Ontario, recently installed three key pieces of wide-format printing technology, purchased through Fujifilm Canada, to boost its production floor, including an Acuity Advance HS, a Kongsberg i-XL24, and an Epson Stylus Pro GS6000.

Rob Press, owner of Signage Source, opted to include the roll-media option for his new flatbed Acuity Advance HS inkjet system, which will be primarily aimed at producing indoor graphics. The company also carries a second 5-year-old flatbed machine, but notes the improved production capabilities of the Acuity with a 1,200-dpi maximum resolution and inline white-ink printing.

The Stylus Pro GS6000 is a roll-fed 64-inch-wide inkjet device that jets Epson’s UltraChrome GS ink from an 8-colour system, including orange and green. The machine’s dual-array MicroPiezo AMC print-head technology produces high-quality prints at up to 91 square feet per hour or what Epson describes as everyday production at 180 square feet per hour.

As its name suggests, Signage Source focuses exclusively on the signage market servicing creative agencies, marketing firms and retail outlets across Canada. The company has been in business since 2003, and moved into its current 17,000-square-foot Pickering location in 2007. The company employs 15 staff members.
