Ampersand Printing has new owners

January 24, 2025  By Nithya Caleb

Allcard, a producer of gift, loyalty, insurance and identification cards, acquires Ampersand Printing, Guelph, Ont.

“We have been looking for several years for this kind of opportunity, so it’s a perfect solution and allows for better controls and service for our clients,” said Allcard president Mark Brown. “Now, everything is a one-stop shop, from card production through to packaging and fulfillment.”

“For our customers, there’s the convenience factor of being able to source everything from one vendor, so colour consistency, timelines and quality are consistent across all product lines,” added Ampersand president Damian McDonald. “We think that’s a very valuable proposition and something unique to the Canadian marketplace.”

Allcard also provides custom-printed packaging for customers in the food and beverage and health and beauty industries. Ampersand, meanwhile, brings nearly 50 years of experience in large format, offset and digital printing as well as direct mail fulfillment and packaging.

“Allcard was actually a long-time customer of Ampersand’s and used them for our printed gift card carriers and letters,” explained Brown. “Through this acquisition, we can bring Ampersand’s expertise fully in-house and create a best-on-best situation that fills gaps and plays to each company’s strengths.”

Brown pointed to the recent investments Ampersand has made in luxury rigid packaging for high-end and specialty products. This, he felt, paired nicely with Allcard’s expansion into the folding carton space. Now, the combined companies can “offer their customers a full range of print and product packaging solutions”.
