Multi Bookbinding strengthens capacity with new production line

Multi Bookbinding successfully integrates a new production line for hardcover book casing. With an investment of $4.5 million, the company installs a Diamant MC 60 casing-in line, manufactured in Germany by Muller Martini.

“North American printers face significant pressure from American publishers to meet required production volumes and avoid being ‘forced’ to print in Asia,” said Yvon Sauvageau, the company’s president. “During the COVID pandemic, demand far exceeded production capacity in North America. The addition of a casing-in production line is a direct response to this demand.”

To enable the integration of this cutting-edge technology and optimize its production capacity, Multi Bookbinding had to expand its facility. This 18,000-sf expansion brings the total area to 80,000-sf with a capacity for nearly 800 skids of work in progress.
