Canada’s largest printer, TC Transcontinental Printing, adds to its production might with the installation of the country’s first HP T400 inkjet web press, which is being run with a world-first Epic WebCoat 400 integration.

This unique printing line is installed at TC Transcontinental Printing’s facility in Aurora, Ontario, in the Greater Toronto Area, primarily to focus on direct marketing services.

The Epic WebCoat 400 provides in-line UV or aqueous coating – on one or both sides of the sheet – for work coming off of the HP T400. Along with the coater, the HP T400 also integrates in-line an Videk DocuVision 8600 web inspection system.

“In the direct marketing business, it is important to have printing solutions that can produce high volumes of personalized marketing materials without sacrificing speed or quality,” stated Rob Seccareccia, Director, Direct Mail Services, TC Transcontinental Printing. “The HP T400 Color Inkjet Web Press, together with the in-line coating and content verification systems, will help us meet our clients’ needs to better tailor marketing content and improve their speed to market. This has already enabled us to complete projects that previously took several weeks in just a few days.”

The HP T400, with a scalable width of up to 42 inches, reaches a top speed of 400 feet per minute (122 metres per minute) with colour work or 600 feet per minute (183 metres per minute) with monochrome. The HP T400 is rated for a monthly duty cycle of 100 million images per month.
