More than 270 people were in Toronto last night to celebrate outstanding achievement in Canada’s printing industry at PrintAction magazine’s 7th annual Canadian Printing Awards, hosted by Dianne Buckner of the CBC.
Around 75 awards were handed out to technology suppliers and printers in Industry Achievement, Quality Printing and Environmental Printing categories. Over 200 printing submissions were on display at the event, leading many of the winners to remark how printing in Canada is clearly on a world-class level.
Much of this quality is naturally led through the highly competitive Toronto market, but the Canadian Printing Awards illustrated outstanding achievement in the provinces of British Columbia, Alberta, Manitoba, Quebec, Nova Scotia and across Ontario, with printers from the Western provinces having their strongest showing at the 7th annual competition.
In conjunction with a strong national representation in printing, this year’s event also featured the first public appearance of the proposed Printing Industries of Canada (PIC) association, which is aiming for an April 2013 launch.
