Westkey Graphics buys Menzies Graphics Group

June 1, 2012  By PrintAction Staff

Westkey Graphics Ltd. of Burnaby, British Columbia, today announced its purchase of Menzies Graphics Group Ltd., which currently runs operations in Calgary, Grande Prairie, Edmonton, Kamloops and Kelowna.

“The strength and stability that Westkey brings to our staff is a very positive move, and the additional capabilities will be a huge asset for our clients,” stated Grant Menzies, CEO of Menzies Printing, which has been a family-run operation since 1946. Menzies provides offset, toner, business form, cheque, envelope, wide-format, and label printing services.

After selling its office-products business to Corporate Express in 1997, Menzies Graphics began significant commercial printing growth in 2000 with the purchase of printing companies in British Columbia’s interior, Calgary and Edmonton. In October 2011, Menzies installed a five-colour Ryobi 755XL press with coater into its flagship Calgary plant.

Westkey itself has been in business for over 50 years and currently has operations in Vancouver, Kelowna, Edmonton and Calgary. Led by President and CEO Alfie Karmal, Westkey provides similar services to Menzies, while also heavily focusing on distribution and fulfillment services – collectively branded by the company as Westkey Central Fulfillment Services.

The combination of Westkey and Menzies creates one of the largest printing operations in Western Canada. Westkey alone employs over 100 staff members across its network.
